May club meeting…

Join the City Democratic Club Thursday, May 18, as we welcome D4 Supervisor Katy Tang.
Please RSVP on our Facebook events page.
See you Thursday!

The City Democratic Club is proud to host District 4 Supervisor Katy Tang to address our May meeting, at 6:30 p.m. in the Chancellor Hotel near Union Square. We will meet in the Clipper Room on the 2nd floor.

Supervisor Tang consistently gets the real work done in City Hall and, good news for us, her term’s not up until 2019. We’re excited to learn more about her recent inquiry into the increasingly common use of set-asides, which by The Examiner‘s count lock up 40 percent of the City general fund.

Sup. Tang has represented Sunset/Parkside since 2013. Her legislative priorities include keeping San Francisco family-friendly, improving public transportation, supporting small businesses, protecting our environment, enhancing pedestrian safety, improving public safety, and protecting our City’s financial health.

Her significant contributions to City policy include leadership in:

  • Ensuring paid parental leave,
  • Improving workplace lactation policies,
  • Preventing homelessness among domestic violence victims,
  • Increasing accessibility for those with disabilities, and
  • Expanding housing options for middle-income families.

A committed community activist, Sup. Tang works closely with the Ocean Beach Master Plan steering committee, is a member of the San Francisco Collaborative Against Human Trafficking, and hosts regular animal adoptions in her office in conjunction with the SPCA as well as an annual jobs fair for youth in her district. She began the Front Yard Ambassador Program to assist residents with front yard landscaping installations and to divert rainwater from the city’s sewer system. Sup. Tang also helped initiate the Home Match program, which pairs homeowners with low-income home seekers.

Before being elected to the Board of Supervisors, she served as a Legislative Aide at the BoS for more than five years, as well as serving in the City’s Office of Public Policy & Finance. Sup. Tang grew up in the Sunset District and is a graduate of UC Davis and University of San Francisco’s School of Law.
